Question
What special considerations are there for integrating VW vehicles?
Answer
Data sharing must be done in the vehicle. Typically, there is no option for this in the manufacturer's mobile app.
- Data transfer between the vehicle and TRONITY is only possible when the main user is logged in. No data transfer occurs for other users. The appropriate user must be selected for each trip. If the vehicle is used in a pool, the main user should be represented as a pool, "Pool Vehicle Company ***".
- To set a main user, please go to the VW ID menu in the User section.
- If a main user already exists, you can also see when the last synchronization took place.
- If there is no main user yet, one can be created in the menu.
- If the vehicle is to be used in a pool, the S-PIN can be deactivated here. This way, no input is needed when logging in.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
I'm not receiving any or incomplete data, what's the reason?
The most common cause is that privacy settings were reset after a workshop visit or software update. In the user menu, select "Setup" (gear icon) > "Privacy Settings" and activate "Vehicle/Usage Data", "Send Location Data", and "Car2X Technology".
When is the location updated?
The location is only updated when the main user is selected and the ignition is off.
Why isn't the route displayed in detail?
We don't receive location updates during the drive, so we can only show the start and end points.
What can I do if my ID.3 no longer has an internet connection?
- Park the vehicle in a location with good internet reception.
- Turn on the ignition.
- Check if the green SOS LED is lit.
- Proceed as follows in the infotainment system:
- Select "User" and under "Me", check when the last synchronization occurred (this information is at the bottom of the screen).
- In the user menu, select "Setup" (gear icon) > "Privacy Settings".
- Deactivate "Vehicle/Usage Data", "Send Location Data", and "Car2X Technology" (switch to the left).
- Restart the infotainment system using the power button (below the screen, far left) by holding the button until the screen goes dark and the VW logo appears after a while. Release the button and wait until the infotainment system is fully rebooted.
- Now select "User" > "Setup" (gear icon) > "Privacy Settings".
- Reactivate "Vehicle/Usage Data", "Send Location Data", and "Car2X Technology" (switch to the right).
- Wait about 1 minute.
- Select "User" and under "Me", check if synchronization occurred.
- In the Volkswagen app, update the vehicle data if necessary via the following path: "Vehicle Icon" > "Settings" > "Vehicle Data" > "Sync Now".
- Check in the TRONITY app if the data is available again.
Important Notes and Terms
Only the VW main user transfers data to TRONITY.
