Question
How can I create a home charging rate using the TRONITY Driver App?
Answer
With the TRONITY Driver App, you can create custom home charging rates to reflect the electricity cost for home charging.
You can choose between a dynamic rate (e.g., Tibber) and a regular rate with a fixed price.
Getting Started with Rate Creation
Option 1:
Main Screen → (+) → Add Charging Rate
Option 2:
Settings → Charging Rates → (+) Add Charging Rate
Dynamic Rate (e.g., Tibber)
- Create New
- Assign Name
- Select Country
- Select "Home" Category
- Optional: Choose Color
- Optional: Set Charging Loss
- Optional: Set Validity
- Set Currency
- Optional: Set Base Fee

- Determine if Rate Uses Renewable Energy
- Determine if Rate Should Be Used as Default
- Set Rate as Active
- Set Price per kWh
- Save
Regular Rate

What is the difference between a base fee and a start fee?
Base Fee: A monthly fee that applies regardless of the number of charging sessions.
Start Fee: Charged per charging session and directly included in the price per charge.
What does it mean if a rate is defined as standard?
If a rate is set as standard, it will be automatically selected unless another rate was used in previous charges.
Note: Home charging rates set as standard will also be used for charging at other locations.
Important Notes and Terms
Charging Loss: When charging at AC charging stations, there is typically a charging loss of 5 – 10%. By setting this value, the energy measured by the vehicle can be adjusted to the actual energy requirement.
Dynamic Rate: A dynamic electricity rate has variable prices that change hourly based on market electricity prices. Users can shift electricity usage to times of low prices (e.g., at night or during high wind/solar production) to save costs. Typically, a smart metering system is required for this.
